About CPC
Christ Presbyterian Church belongs to the Presbytery of Northern New England, which is part of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). Our purpose is to promote obedience to Jesus Christ, the only Redeemer and Lord, as he has revealed His will in the Holy Scriptures. A summary of our doctrine may be found in the Westminster Confession of Faith, and Westminster Larger and Shorter Catechisms, available upon request.
Church Doctrine Statement
We believe that God the Almighty Father has planned the salvation of his people from before the foundation of the world. We believe that God the Son has purchased the salvation of his people by his obedient life, by his death, and by his resurrection. We believe that God the Holy Spirit applies salvation to his people by working invisibly in them, effectively calling them to faith, repentance, and obedience.
Our Leadership
The PCA is governed by the elders of the congregations. Presbyterian comes from the Greek word presbuteros which means elders. There are Ruling Elders and Teaching Elders which called by the congregations and are representatives to the Presbytery (regional) and the General Assembly (national). The constitution of the local church, the presbytery, and the denomination is the Bible, the Westminster Confession of Faith, and the Book of Church Order (BCO), with the Holy Scriptures being supreme over the Confession of Faith and the BCO.
Christ Presbyterian Church is blessed with 2 ruling elders and 2 deacons. The 2 ruling elders and the one teaching elder make up the Session. The 2 deacons make up the Deacon Board.
Our Pastor
An early military brat, Jason was born at Beale Air Force Base in California. While he spent the first five years of his life on numerous military bases throughout the U.S., the lush rolling hills of Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania is what he considers home. The oldest of three boys, Jason grew up with his brothers on their family’s farm.
After graduating from high school, Jason attended Grove City College where he completed a B.A. in Religion with an emphasis in Applied Physics. It was during his freshman year, the night his grandfather died, when Jason recognized his need for a personal relationship with God and opened his heart to Jesus Christ.
Knowing that he wanted to enter into full-time Christian Service, but feeling uncertain in which capacity, Jason applied for a teaching position with
There amongst the 6.2 million Chinese residents, and a handful of American ex-patriots, Jason met his future wife, Allison. Jason and Allison were married on May 13, 1995, nine months after returning to the States. It was towards the end of his teaching assignment when Jason’s desire for ministry became clear. Immediately upon returning to the States, he accepted his first full-time ministry position at First Presbyterian Church of Battle Creek as the Director of Youth Ministries.
Allison has been Jason’s most faithful supporter in ministry ever since they married and she joined him in Battle Creek, Michigan. Allison is a Chinese-American, fluent in Cantonese, born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. After attending UCLA and the University of San Francisco, she spent one year teaching in the Palo Alto Unified School District when she was invited by the Consulate General of the PRC to teach English at Shenyang Polytechnic University. Allison keeps busy with their three children, Victoria (19) and Andrew (17) and Nicole (15).
After seven years of ministering to youth in Michigan & Ohio, Jason & Allison knew it was time for further training and equipping in ministry. The Wakefield family packed everything up in the Midwest and moved 3000 miles west to Vancouver, BC. Canada to attend Regent College. While at Regent, Jason developed an interest in Church Planting and Revitalization work during his internship at Grace Vancouver Church PCA.
Jason graduated in the Spring of 2004 and accepted the position of church planter/revitalization pastor at Christ Presbyterian Church. Jason & Allison are thrilled to be in New England ministering the Gospel with the Presbyterian Church of America. There hope is to see a church that reaches all of Nashua with the Good News of Jesus Christ.
